9. Dead Heat Rules
9.A A dead heat is defined as an event in which two outcomes or participants finish exactly even.
9.B In the case of a dead heat, the winnings made and losses incurred by Players are split according to the number of competitors. The formula for this, along with relevant examples, are given below:
Example #1 (all calculations should use decimal odds):
- You wager $100 on a golfer to place Top 5 in the tournament at +500 (6.0) odds
- The event ends with three golfers tying for 5th in the tournament
- 6.0 (original odds) ÷ 3 (number of participants who tied) = 2.0 (DHR decimal odds)
- $50 x 2.0 = $100.00 payout
Example #2 (all calculations should use decimal odds):
- You wager $200 on a golfer to win his 72-hole tournament group at +250 (3.5) odds.
- The event ends with two golfers tying for first place in the group
- 3.5 (original odds) ÷ 2 (number of participants who tied) = 1.75 (DHR decimal odds)
- $200 x 1.75 = $350 payout
The foregoing examples are not meant to be exclusive.
