This update changes when your cash is deducted. Instead of deducting funds when you place a play, funds will now be deducted only when a play is matched. Below are the most common questions about how this works and what it means for you.
What’s changing with wallet deductions?
Previously: Cash was deducted as soon as you placed a play.
Now: Cash is deducted only when your play is matched. Unmatched plays do not reduce your available cash balance.
This change gives you more flexibility to post liquidity while ensuring that matched plays are always fully collateralized.
I just opened the app and saw a pop-up about this change. What does it mean?
If you’ve placed unmatched plays before, you’ll see a one-time introduction explaining this update.
The key takeaway:
Your balance will no longer decrease at placement for unmatched plays
Your balance will decrease immediately when a match occurs
No action is required from you—this is an automatic system update.
Why didn’t my balance change when I placed an unmatched play?
That’s expected behavior.
When you place a play that does not immediately match:
Your balance stays the same
The play remains open and eligible to match in the future
Funds are only deducted if and when the play matches
You can view all open (unmatched) plays on the My Plays page.
What happens if my unmatched plays exceed my available collateral?
To protect against overexposure, there are limits on how much unmatched stake you can have relative to your prophet cash or point collateral.
If placing an unmatched play causes your total unmatched stake to exceed your allowed collateral limits:
Unmatched plays where you don’t have the funds needed to match will be automatically canceled
Those plays will no longer be eligible to match
Your cash balance will remain unchanged
You’ll need to place new plays after reducing your open exposure or increasing your cash collateral.
Why were my plays canceled when I wasn’t using the app?
This can happen if one of your plays matches passively (without you taking action).
When a passive match occurs:
Your cash collateral is deducted immediately
If your remaining cash collateral is no longer sufficient to support your other open plays, those plays are canceled automatically
If this happens, you’ll receive:
A push notification
An email explaining that your plays were canceled due to insufficient cash collateral following a match
This rule applies regardless of whether your cash balance changes at placement.
