Soccer Contract Settlement Rules
Unless otherwise specified in the applicable Contract Specifications, all Soccer event contracts listed on ProphetX shall be settled in accordance with the rules set forth in this Chapter. Defined terms used herein have the meanings ascribed to them in the ProphetX Rulebook. References to 'orders' include resting and filled orders as applicable; references to 'settlement' refer to final contract disposition following outcome determination.
A. General. All contracts are offered in accordance with ProphetX's Rulebook and Terms and Conditions.
B. Scheduling. Dates and start times displayed on the Exchange are provided for informational purposes only and are not guaranteed. Official schedules are as published by the applicable governing body.
C. Moneyline Contracts (Two-Way). A Moneyline contract is an event contract in which the outcome is determined by which team wins the referenced event. If the referenced team wins the event, the contract resolves in favor of that team. Example: an order on Soccer Team A to win resolves to Yes if Soccer Team A wins the indicated event.
D. Spread Contracts. A Spread contract is an event contract in which the outcome is determined by whether the chosen team's margin of victory or defeat satisfies the listed Strike once the Spread is applied. In circumstances where the result, after application of the Spread, exactly equals the Strike, the contract shall be void and collateral shall be returned to the applicable accounts. Example: a contract on Soccer Team A at -3.0 shall be void if Soccer Team A wins by exactly three (3) goals.
E. Total Goals Contracts. A Total Goals contract is an event contract in which the outcome is determined by whether the combined final score of the referenced match is over the listed Strike. Orders shall resolve to Yes if the total exceeds the Strike, to No if the total falls below the Strike, and void if the total exactly equals the Strike. Example: a contract on Over 5 Goals shall resolve to Yes if more than five (5) goals are scored, to No if four (4) or fewer goals are scored, and void if exactly five (5) goals are scored.
F. Futures Contracts. A Futures contract is an event contract in which the outcome is determined by whether a specified participant wins or places within a specified position in the final classification of the listed event or competition. Example: a Futures contract on Team A to win the 2026 World Cup shall resolve to Yes if, and only if, Team A wins the 2026 World Cup.
G. Player Statistics Contracts. Players not included in the starting squad shall be deemed non-runners for settlement purposes and these contracts will be void.
- Goalscorer Contracts. A Goalscorer contract is a Proposition contract in which the outcome is determined by whether a referenced player scores the first goal, last goal, or any goal (anytime) in the referenced match. Own goals shall be disregarded for settlement purposes. Only players who start the match shall be deemed a participant in the referenced contract. Players coming on as substitutes shall be deemed non-runners. In the event of any dispute as to which player scored a goal, settlement shall follow the determination made by the applicable governing body.
H. Governing Authority. All Soccer contracts shall be settled in accordance with the official results and rulings of the applicable event governing body. Participants are solely responsible for understanding the format of the match or competition prior to submitting an order. Some Soccer competitions may employ differing match formats, and ProphetX makes no representation regarding format.
I. Standard Event Duration. Unless otherwise stated in the applicable Contract Specifications, all Soccer contracts shall apply to ninety (90) minutes of regulation play as determined by the event officials, plus any added injury or stoppage time. Extra time and penalty shoot-outs are not included unless expressly stated. The following exceptions apply: (i) for events scheduled for a duration other than ninety (90) minutes (e.g., sixty (60), seventy (70), eighty (80), or one hundred twenty (120) minutes) as agreed under the applicable competition rules or by both teams prior to kick-off, all contracts shall be settled at the end of the agreed event length, including any time added by the referee for stoppages, regardless of whether ProphetX has advertised the modified event length; and (ii) for matches played in an unusual format (e.g., three or four periods), all first half contracts shall be void, and all other contracts shall be settled based on the final score at the end of the event, including any time added by the referee for stoppages.
K. Abandoned or Postponed Events. In circumstances where more than ninety percent (90%) of the scheduled event time has been completed and the referee ends the event before the full allotted time has elapsed, the result at the time of termination shall be used for the settlement of all contracts on that event. In all other cases, if a event commences but is subsequently abandoned or postponed and ProphetX determines that the event will not be restarted by 23:59 local time on the originally scheduled start date, all contracts on that event shall be void and collateral shall be returned to the applicable accounts, except for any contracts whose outcomes have been unequivocally determined prior to abandonment.
L. Tournament Scoring Contracts. For contracts on Team Scoring Most Goals, Team Conceding Most Goals, Total Tournament Goals, Team Top Goalscorer, Total Tournament Hat-tricks, and Most Goals markets, extra time is included for settlement purposes. Penalty shoot-outs are not included for settlement purposes on any of these contracts.
N. Tournament Player Statistic Contracts. For contracts on Player to Score a Goal in respect of a particular tournament, all contracts shall stand irrespective of whether the referenced player participates during the tournament. Extra time is included for settlement and resolution purposes in all three of these markets.
O. Moneyline Contracts (Three-Way). A Moneyline contract is an event contract in which the outcome is determined by which result will occur in an event. If the referenced club wins the event the contract resolves in favor of that club. If the event results in a Draw the Draw contract resolves to Yes and both club contracts resolve to No.
